What is new in the last 48 (whoops), hours?
It sure seems like a bunch of politicians would rather see our economy bounce back than keep people alive.
Chicago lakefront got shut down last night because too many people were gathering in clusters.
A $2tn disaster aid bill was passed by the Senate. We’ll see.
What is the same?
Kids want to create.
We need to keep calling and emailing in order to release adults and children who are incarcerated.
The new same is the daily reporting of numbers - how many new positives, how many new deaths, how many pieces of PPE are needed. It’s strange how quickly that kind of reporting became familiar. Let’s not get numb to it.
What is the hope?
People are still fighting for positive change and calling loved ones and trying and asking themselves questions. Still wondering aloud with co-workers and friends and family members: “what is the best thing to do in this moment?” We’ll have to keep asking that question, multiple times a day, for the rest of our new future. And we’ll be wrong a lot. So maybe one of our new job assignments going forward will be reminding our loved ones (and ourselves) that it’s okay to be wrong, that it’s better to try, that we’ll never get anywhere if we don’t work together to navigate our collective fumbling.
